Happy #BackBritishFarming Day!

We’re big believers in backing British farmers every day of the year, but today, we’re shouting about it a little louder! 📢 Originated by the National Farmers' Union, #BackBritishFarmingDay is the perfect chance to show some love for British farmers - remind everyone why buying British really counts.

At Organic Herd, we doing more than just making dairy delicious. We’re committed to making a positive difference for our environment, our animals, and the quality of British produce – all right here on our home soil. 🇬🇧

The best way to support British farming? Buy #BritishOrganic whenever you can. Not only does it boost the economy, but did you know that 71% of the UK’s countryside is managed by farmers? They’re the guardians of our landscape, keeping it beautiful and sustainable for future generations - and the more farms that convert to #Organic, the better!

🐄 You’ve heard the phrase ‘you are what you eat’ – well, it’s the same for our cows. If you want high-quality, tasty dairy, you’ve got to start with great grass and soil health.

Our farmers work their wellies off to ensure that their pastures stay vibrant, nutrient-rich and nourished, in harmony with the natural biodiversity of the planet.

Organic farming captures more CO2 in the soil compared to regular farming*. If every farmer in the UK switched to organic, at least 1.3 million tonnes of carbon would be captured by the soil each year. Anyone tempted?

👀 Pssssssttt - did you know that Organic Herd is a co-operative, fully owned and run by British farmers?

From organic practices to regenerative farming, we’re all about doing dairy the right way. And for us, this starts with being a co-operative.

Our farmers all collectively share a commitment to pursuing sustainable and organic farming. When our quality milk is crafted into delicious products, all profits are returned to our farmers. That way, we're able to continue to invest in their future - and the planet.

Our farms are scattered across the UK, from the depths of Cornwall to the wild Highlands of Scotland. Whilst our homes may be wildly different, we’re united by one common belief - that how we farm matters, and that organic is the way to go.

""Regener-whaa?

You might have heard the term 'Regenerative Farming' being bandied about. But what does it actually mean?

Generally speaking, 'Regenerative Farming' is all about farming in a way that reduces and reverses climate change by rebuilding soil health and encouraging biodiversity. Organic farming is by its very nature regenerative, meaning that when we farm, we contribute to the environment, rather than exploiting it.

📸 Say Cheese! 🧀 We're kicking off #OrganicSeptember with our new spotlight series 'Meet the Farmers' where we celebrate the faces behind your favourite Organic Herd products.

This week, we're saying hello to Marian & David of Court Lodge Farm! Home to over 150 Ayrshire and Friesian cows, Marian and David's farm is practically an organic oasis! Unblemished by the usage of no agrochemicals for over 25 years, cows at the farm happily snack on the traditional pastures of the Pevensey Levels.

To get a real immersive sense of the work that Marian and David are doing, we suggest you take a look at a recent video created by Natural History and Media graduate Anneke Emery, where she explores Court Lodge Farm and speaks to David about the positive impact of organic dairy farming. If you’d like to view the video, hit the link in bio.
